Language and Grammar 101
Evaluation Course

To complete this course you must first read the text below and then click on the link to the left titled "EXAMINATION". Follow the instructions to complete the examination and then proceed to the other courses in your chosen certificate program.

The purpose of this course is not to teach you all about language and grammar. Instead, this course serves a two-fold purpose. First it is to evaluate the knowledge you already have in this field of study. It also teaches you how to do research for information regarding language and grammar. Please feel free to research the answers you will give for the questions on the examination. You must answer 18 of the 25 questions correctly to pass the course. When you complete your chosen certificate program, the grade you achieve will appear on your final transcript, thus qualifying an actual earned grade in this area of study.

Language - the words, their pronunciation, and the methods of combining them used and understood by a community.
Grammar - the study of classes of words, their inflections and their functions and relations in a sentence.
(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
